A night of terror: Brothers shot, teen killed


POLICE are searching for two men suspected in the murder of a 19-year-old La Brea man in California and the shooting of two brothers in Couva on Tuesday night.

The suspects used a silver Tiida PDC 6286 to carry out of the shootings and police later found a vehicle matching the description abandoned at Cemetery Street, California, with several spent shells inside.

At around 9 p.m. officers of the Couva CID responded to a report that two brothers - Anwar Young, 24, and Jamal Young, 20 - were shot at their home.

A police team went to Flamingo Street, Couva, and found Anwar Young with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and Jamal Young shot in the buttocks.

Police were told that the siblings were standing in their yard when a silver Tiida pulled up and a man alighted from the passenger's side and sprayed bullets.

The brothers were taken to the Couva District Health Facility where they were treated and then transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where they were warded.

While police were at that scene, they received a report of another shooting at Teelucksingh Street East, California.

A party of police officers of the Central Division Task Force led by Sperintendent Adams responded and found that Akile Tallan was shot dead in the driveway of the his girlfriend's home.

Police were told that Tallan, of High Road, was standing in the driveway when a silver Tiida with two occupants pulled up and opened fire.

As Tallan slumped tothe ground, the car sped off.

Homicide investigators led by Sargeant Susan John responded to the scene.

Tallan was pronounced dead at the scene by a district medical officer.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on his body today at the Forensic Science Centre.

The car was impounded by police and expected to be sent for forensic testing.
