Popular Trinbagonian DJ, Titan VCD (Kerwin Gardiner) visited our northern neighbours in Grenada recently and treated college students there to a fun weekend of explosive entertainment with engaging sets at two major events, providing hours of music for dancing, as well as hosting the launch of a new carnival section.
With a love for Spicemas and a vision of providing the country’s only all-inclusive, premium experience, SummerCrew is now the premiere party mas band in Grenada and the marquee Movement group launched their section, “For The Love of Carnival” at the “RaveOLution 2” event held on Virgin Beach, True Blue from 9 p.m.-3 a.m.
As part of the DJ/Artiste Project dubbed “Boyaka Smash”, Titan VCD also ignited the “SGU Sandblast” event on Grand Anse Beach with all the hits of Trinidad Carnival 2015 and more from noon to 5 a.m.
Long recognised as a good graphic artist, photographer and videographer, Gardiner told The Express he is revamping his DJ brand in an effort to unite the region through music:
“I’ve been playing music for years, but took some time off from the consoles to work with Bunji, Fay Ann and the Asylum Vikings as a videographer,” he explained.
“After travelling with them and seeing the impact soca music was making in different places and spaces, I felt inspired to represent again and I feel like the time is right to unite the region through music.”
Patrons enjoyed the seaside atmosphere enhanced with popular music selections, Carib beer, as well as the foam pit, beach balls, fun games, the “BoYaKa Smash” instagram picture frame, free BoYaKa Smash sunglasses, tote bags and jar mugs and the ever-popular “Hot Body” competition and to cap off the event, live performances by Grenadian artistes, Shortpree, Luni Sparks and Electify.
Titan VCD will take the “Boyaka Smash” brand to Jamaica and Barbados over the coming weeks, before returning for Grenada carnival in August.
